Kelsey Keathly is a photographer and graphic designer. She loves road trips, Texas country music, and the jingling sound spurs make on concrete. Her favourite class to show is a tie between Showmanship and Ranch Riding, and my favourite class to watch is Trail. Even after being in the horse industry for 20 years, I still tear up when I watch someone get excited about winning a world championship. I grew up showing paint horses. Specifically, one fabulous gelding named Investers Norfleet. Norman carried me through 14 years of showing, from walk-trot all the way through amateur. He is now semi-retired in Albion, Michigan, where he is teaching intercollegiate riders how to be fabulous. When my daughter is ready to show, he will be hers to conquer the world with.
Growing up, she flipped through The Equine Chronicle until the binding fell apart and the pages fell out. She memorized the horses, who was showing them, and who they trained with. Mostly, though, she obsessed over the adverts. From the age of 9, her dream job was “equine ad designer.”
She started Norfleet Marketing in 2011, creating sale videos, vinyl stall banners, and ads. She started creating logos in 2012, and since then have made a couple of hundred logo designs for a variety of businesses, in and out of the equine industry. She also achieved her childhood dream of having her work published in The Equine Chronicle (along with GoHorseShow, InStride Edition, and NSBA The Way To Go, to name a few).

To further her knowledge of business (and horses) Kelsey chose to go to college “for ponies”… that is, she acquired her bachelor of professional studies in management, with a specialization in equine business management, from Cazenovia College in 2017. During her time at Cazenovia, she not only ran Norfleet, but held a variety of other positions within the equine industry as well, including contributing writer for GoHorseShow.com and Director of Advertising for East Coast Show Apparel.
I love how clear her website is! For a client booking a photoshoot, there are so many different options for photoshoot and branding packages.

In 2016, she purchased her first DSLR prior to taking candids for GoHorseShow.com at the Congress. That winter, she took photos at every single IHSA show, falling deeply in love with show photography. Kelsey began taking photos of my friends and their horses as well, capturing the bonds they shared. In July of 2017, Norfleet Photography was officially born.
She took Norfleet full time in 2018, deciding that it was her life dream to help other entrepreneurs define their success and chase their dreams. Now, Kelsey travels to barns and fairgrounds across the country, photographing horses and the people that love them. Most of the time, she is accompanied by her other half, Dustin, their daughter, Kailee, and their Border Collie x Australian Shepherd, Sadie.
Kelsey creates such personal logos for each client she works with.

I followed her process videos and wrote a plan for my logo design in my sketchbook, in another blog.
